Readiness Cities - Puerto Rico
"This grant is an invaluable opportunity for Puerto Rico to develop a roadmap for implementing smart technologies and solutions as we rebuild. These efforts … will create an innovative pathway for a better Puerto Rico." — Puerto Rico Governor Ricardo Rosselló
Puerto Rico, winner of a 2018 Smart Cities Council Readiness Challenge Humanitarian Grant, will spend tens of billions of dollars rebuilding its critical infrastructure systems and is determined to make it smart, sustainable and resilient from the start. To achieve this, Puerto Rico seeks a programmatic approach that educates leaders and stakeholders about using smart technology and processes for sustainable development with the goal of elevating its economic, social, and environmental outcomes.
Smart Cities Council, the sector’s largest coalition, today announced the finalists for its 2018 Readiness Challenge Grants, of which five will be selected in early March to receive mentoring as well as tailored products and services to accelerate their smart city initiatives. Additionally, Puerto Rico will be awarded a special Readiness Challenge Grant to help accelerate its hurricane recovery efforts.
