Edmonton, Alberta, is a 2019 Smart Cities Readiness Challenge winner and Smart Cities Council partners have the opportunity to participate in the city’s Readiness Workshop in Q4 2019. Partners may attend the workshop on a space available basis. Also, based on their expertise, partners may have opportunities to present relevant case studies or serve as subject matter experts during breakout sessions.
Edmonton has already delivered substantial value for its residents through the design of programs like You Can Benefit, which helps citizens find government services, and multi-stakeholder projects like their Open Data Initiative. Their world-class team is helping Canada’s fifth-largest city scale up their existing Smart City ecosystem, joining with neighboring jurisdictions, universities and community groups to deliver a bigger regional impact by leveraging technology and innovation.
The city’s priority areas are Digital City Services, Transportation and Public Health. These will serve as the focus areas during the Readiness Workshop with the goal being consensus building and the development of action steps.
