Continental collaborates on autonomous vehicle R&D in Singapore
Council Global Lead Partner Continental will collaborate with Singapore-based AV company EasyMile on a research and development project to develop new AV technology. The focus will be on perception and deep learning and preparing for safe testing of driverless vehicles in the Singapore metro area. The project will contribute to Singapore's smart city initiative on urban mobility.
Energy efficiency programs making a difference
New Jersey's Elizabethtown Gas and California's Riverside Public Utilities have joined other utilities in using Council Global Lead Partner Oracle's Opower Home Energy Reports. The behavioral energy efficiency program provides utility customers with information they can use to better manage their energy use, and gives utilities opportunities to drive more digital engagement while improving the customer service experience.
Itron to deliver grid reliability solution to Brazilian utility
In an effort to improve grid reliability, reduce energy losses and enable future smart grid upgrades and applications, Brazilian electric utility Elektro will deploy Council Global Lead Partner Itron's Gen5 network and 40,000 locally produced smart meters. Itron also will provide software maintenance and professional services to ensure a smooth transition and operations.
Eaton expands cybersecurity program
Council Lead Partner Eaton, a power management company, has been working with Council Associate Partner UL to develop measurable cybersecurity criteria for network-connected power management products and systems. That collaboration has resulted in new UL cybersecurity certifications for Eaton's intelligent uninterruptible power supply and grid automation technologies.
Microsoft offering tech training for military spouses
Council Global Lead Partner Microsoft has been working with the military on technology training for some time. Recognizing the hardships military spouses and their families face, the company has initiated a Military Spouse Technology Academy. The 22-week classroom program will help prepare spouses for careers in server and cloud administration.
