Itron wins Bangladesh contract: Itron will supply 8,600 prepaid gas meters to the national utility of Bangladesh, Titus Gas Transmission and Distribution Co. According to a report at metering.com, the $1.5 million project is designed to reduce billing irregularities. The Asian Development Bank is funding $1 million of the cost. Titus Gas is expected to install another 500,00 prepaid meters in the future.
Qualcomm sponsors Meeting of the Minds Hackathon: Believing mobile devices will continue to be among the most important connectivity hubs in making people's lives more efficient, productive, and safe, Council Global Partner Qualcomm is teaming with Meeting of the Minds to sponsor a hackathon Sept. 30-Oct.1. The event, which carries a $5,000 prize to the winning team, will be held in Detroit, MI.
Alstom helps launch Microgrid Alliance: The newly formed Microgrid Alliance (MGA) wants to provide a collective voice for companies and other stakeholders involved in microgrids. Council Global Partner Alstom Grid is a founding member. "Although 'microgrid' has been somewhat of a buzzword in the energy sector for several years, it is really moving into the mainstream now," said Dan Delurey, Executive Director of the Microgrid Alliance. "The MGA is the only organization to bring together a broad group of companies working on microgrids to provide a collective voice for this sector."
